Are You Content With The Content?

by Michele Husfelt

Last week, several of us attended TGCW26 (The Gospel Coalition Conference for Women.)

One of the highlights for me (in addition to the mornings and evenings spent sitting on the front porch of our Airbnb sharing life and where we've seen God at work) was Ann Voskamp's session on Cultivating Contentment in Everyday Life. Here are a few thoughts:

  1. We are bombarded with content (social media, newsfeed, TV, etc.), yet we are not content.

  2. Psalm 73:25 reminds us, "Whom have I in heaven but you? I desire you more than anything on earth."

  3. God is our portion. He is all we need. There is no such thing as a "small portion" of God; He is not a piece of anything. Our portion is whole and complete.

  4. The content of your portion is what makes you content. (God is our portion.)

  5. Paul learned to be content. We must practice being content.

  6. "You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until we find rest in you." St. Augustine

Where can you practice contentment with the content of your day?
