God Created...Then He Rested
by Amy Tromba on November 2, 2026
(This poem was written during the Creatives Retreat.)
God created, then He rested.
I move, move, move like the babbling brook
pushing against rocks
bubbling up in frustration
trying to overcome obstacles in my path
making lots of noise along the way.
Will I ever slow down?
Can I slow down?
God created, then He rested.
He didn’t have to rest.
He’s God.
The Creator rested and it was very good.
He invites me to rest.
Eventually the babbling brook leads to calmer waters.
It flows to larger bodies of water that cover the earth.
More people experience its majesty and massiveness,
living on sustenance it provides.
Maybe by resting in God
He can accomplish more through me
because He guides me not necessarily to calmer waters
but to a calmness within,
gifted by the Holy Spirit.
And this calmness and rest becomes an invitation to others
to experience His perfect peace in the present chaos
until we meet in eternity
to enjoy walks together amongst the babbling brooks.
God created, then He rested.
Help me, Lord, to rest in You.
