Prayer

By Katie Harding

In honor of our anniversary, enjoy a timeless message from one of our first newsletters as a Network.

Fall has always been one of my favorite times of the year.

Change is in the air as the leaves turn bright colors and the church year begins again with new opportunities to reach others and teach them about the love of Christ.

Often, we equate words like change and opportunities with activity. Instead, as we start this new year, I encourage you to find time for stillness...for a time devoted to prayer. Praying not only for others, but also praying for God to use you as His instrument in reaching others. Praying that “as you go,” God will clothe you with “shoes of peace” to allow you to be bold and firm in your faith (Eph. 6:15)

Several years ago, I heard a speaker tell about her experience as she approached a woman in a coffee shop and sat down to talk with her. The speaker ultimately shared her faith and prayed with the woman. I can remember thinking, “I don’t know if I would ever be able to do that!”

When we wait before the Lord in prayer and surrender ourselves to His prompting, it’s incredible what happens through the power of the Holy Spirit. How easy it suddenly becomes to share our stories of faith. Instead of saying to women, “I will pray for you.” We soon find ourselves asking, “Can I pray with you?”

As another year begins, I urge you to gather with your teams and with women in your church to pray for your ministries, pray for your church, and pray for opportunities.

May God’s Spirit fill you with His power as you share our Savior’s love.

Your sister in Christ,

Katie
