Who Do You Say Jesus Is?

But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Matthew 16:15

It’s easy to say Jesus is Lord when everything feels steady. But what about when work feels unstable, the bills pile up, the marriage feels strained, the kids are struggling, or church folk disappoint us?

Jesus turned to His disciples and asked a direct question:
“Who do you say I am?”

He wasn’t asking for theology. He was asking for a confession—a personal declaration of trust, identity, and truth.

In every situation, this same question echoes in our hearts:
When fear creeps in, when provision looks slim, when relationships feel rocky, when community wounds you…

Who do you say Jesus is—right now?

Because if He’s really the Christ—the Anointed One, the Savior—then He’s not just Lord in heaven, but also Lord here.

Lord in your job.
Lord over your bank account.
Lord in your marriage.
Lord in your parenting.
Lord in the middle of every relationship—especially the hard ones.

Sometimes, when I catch the clock at 11:11 or 1:11 PM, I use it as a sacred pause. I say,

“Jesus, you are the only ONE who can ______________.” (heal, provide, fix, etc)

It realigns my heart. Reminds me that I don’t need to be the fixer, the provider, or the savior. That job is already taken.

So today, slow down and ask yourself:
Who do you say Jesus is—not just with your lips, but in the places that ache and feel undone?
Let Him be the Messiah there!
