January 18-24, 2026
I don’t know about you, but I am in pursuit of deep, personal communion with the Triune God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit). I am not looking for the esoteric but rather communion rooted in Scripture, centered on Christ, and empowered by grace that is available to all believers. This experience falls in the mystical realm as it is an experienced faith: knowing God relationally through prayer, Scripture, the work of the Holy Spirit, and a life of obedience and love. It affirms that intimacy with God is a gift made possible through Christ alone, not through human effort, and is accessible to all believers. At its heart, Protestant Christian mysticism is about abiding in God’s presence, being transformed into the likeness of Christ, and living attentively to God’s activity in both the ordinary and the sacred. There are other forms of mysticism, but we won’t be delving into any of that. We will meditate only on the God in three persons.
This week's focus: Presence. “Presence emphasizes His constant nearness, guidance, and indwelling Spirit, promising fullness of joy, strength in trials, and the assurance that He will never leave or forsake His people.
