July 27-August 2, 2025
If you have been in church for any significant length of time you probably have heard of Spiritual Disciplines. The Disciplines are tools to be practiced and they are varied. As a follower of Christ, these disciplines should show up in our every day lives as we are being transformed into the image of Christ. I have learned to refer to these disciplines as practices because they need to be practiced throughout the days of my life. Some should show up daily others may be more seasonal or more of a weekly, monthly, or yearly practice. This month we are going to take a look at noticing and naming feelings, feeling them through prayer and responding as directed by the Spirit.
This week's Bible reading: Ecclesiastes 3:1-10
Focal Verses: Ecclesiastes 3:4
Theme: Spiritual Disciplines/Practices
Day 1: COMPASSION: Who did you feel compassion for today? Or, yesterday? Pray for that person and pray to remain tenderhearted.
Day 2: EXCITEMENT: What are you looking forward to? Rejoice with God over what brings life.
Day 3: TRUST: What helps you trust God even when you can’t see? Speak or write out a prayer of trust to God.
Day 4: GRIEF: What loss are you carrying right now? Notice the changes in your body as you feel the weight of that grief. If tears come, offer them as a holy prayer unto God. Give your grief over to Jesus.
Day 5: FORGIVENESS: Who do you need to forgive—or ask forgiveness from? Invite God to soften your heart. Respond as the Spirit directs.
