July 26-August 1, 2026

As we navigate the busy summer season, we look to Scripture for true refreshment. While summer often brings vacations, activities, and full calendars, it can also leave little room for intentional time with God. Before we know it, our days are filled with errands, social media, family commitments, and all the adulting responsibilities that come with everyday life.

Sometimes the deepest refreshment comes not from adding something to our schedules, but from setting something aside in order to draw closer to God. If you've been feeling distracted, hurried, or spiritually depleted, God may be inviting you into the practice of fasting.

This month, we'll spend time in Isaiah 58, exploring God's heart for fasting and discovering how this spiritual discipline can help us refocus, renew our faith, and deepen our relationship with Him.

This week's focus: Renewal

This week's Bible reading: Isaiah 58:11-14

Day 1: What is feeling sun-scorched in your land? How is He shading you today?

Day 2: How can you see the Lord satisfying you and strengthening your frame?

Day 3: We don't always feel like we are in a well-watered place. Stop what you are doing. Go to the kitchen and make a large glass of water, add ice if you would like, add a splash of citrus or juice if you like, and grab a straw. Just sit and drink the glass. No timeline. Just drinking and pondering. Look at the glass. See the condensation form. Observe the liquid waning. What do you notice about your soul in that experience?

Day 4: God is the Repairer of Broken Walls and the Restorer of Street Dwellings. What broken walls do you have? Which streets are filled with potholes? Take some time to walk and talk with God today. What work is He repairing.

Day 5: What ways are you traveling your own paths? What idle words are you speaking? Invite Him to do a course correction. Allow Him to show you a new pathway! Ride in triumph and feast this week!!!

Challenge: Spend some time in imaginative prayer. Turn on some nature sounds, close your eyes, walk through the garden, what is there, where is God, what images do you see, what are you doing while you walk in that sacred place?
