July 19-25, 2026

As we navigate the busy summer season, we look to Scripture for true refreshment. While summer often brings vacations, activities, and full calendars, it can also leave little room for intentional time with God. Before we know it, our days are filled with errands, social media, family commitments, and all the adulting responsibilities that come with everyday life.

Sometimes the deepest refreshment comes not from adding something to our schedules, but from setting something aside in order to draw closer to God. If you've been feeling distracted, hurried, or spiritually depleted, God may be inviting you into the practice of fasting.

This month, we'll spend time in Isaiah 58, exploring God's heart for fasting and discovering how this spiritual discipline can help us refocus, renew our faith, and deepen our relationship with Him.

This week's focus: Light

This week's Bible reading: Isaiah 58:8-10

Day 1: What does your light look like? Take some simple art supplies and draw/paint/depict your own light. What colors do you see?

Day 2: Most days, it doesn't feel like healing comes quickly. Is there an area of your life that was healed quickly? What areas are still long?

Day 3: I was hiking with friends for the last two weeks. I spent a long time in the back making sure we were protected, listening to stories, and catching up when the pace quickened. It didn't feel like an important position until the end when my friends gave me the trail name "Rear Guard." What do you think of when you think of a rear guard?

Day 4: What are you calling upon the Lord for today? How do you perceive Him answering? Write a poem or a lament to make space for your question and hearing His answer.

Day 5: He is the righteous Judge and judgement is on the way. Releasing them leads you to freedom!!! What justice have you been calling for? What judgements are you holding over others? Spend some time releasing them to the Lord.

Challenge: Go back to day 1 and look at your light, how has it changed this week? What does it look like now? Draw it from the perspective of "noonday." What colors do you see?
