August 16-22, 2026

Communing with God is more than speaking words in prayer. It is abiding in His presence, listening for His voice through Scripture and the Holy Spirit, and enjoying the relationship made possible through Jesus Christ. Over the next few weeks the prayer prompts will be invitations to slow down, quiet your heart, and cultivate a deeper awareness of God's love, wisdom, and presence. As you pray, allow space not only to speak but also to listen, trusting that the Lord delights in drawing near to those who seek Him (James 4:8).

This week's focus: Communing

This week's Bible reading: Psalm 73:28

Day 1: Holy Spirit, make my heart sensitive to Your guidance throughout each conversation, decision, and circumstance.

Day 2: Father, remind me that You delight in spending time with me because I am Your beloved child.

Day 3: Jesus, teach me to recognize Your presence in both seasons of joy and seasons of waiting.

Day 4: Lord, remove every distraction that competes for my attention and draw my focus back to You.

Day 5: Father, deepen my trust so that I can surrender every burden into Your capable hands.

Challenge: In a journal, complete an “abiding log”: Notice what draws you toward God and what pulls you away from Him. Make two columns: Things that Help Me Abide and Things that Pull Me Away. Record this information over multiple days. What did you notice? What practical changes can you make to stay connected to Him throughout your days.
