August 23-29, 2026

Communing with God is more than speaking words in prayer. It is abiding in His presence, listening for His voice through Scripture and the Holy Spirit, and enjoying the relationship made possible through Jesus Christ. Over the next few weeks the prayer prompts will be invitations to slow down, quiet your heart, and cultivate a deeper awareness of God's love, wisdom, and presence. As you pray, allow space not only to speak but also to listen, trusting that the Lord delights in drawing near to those who seek Him (James 4:8).

This week's focus: Communing

This week's Bible reading: Psalm 73:28

Day 1: Holy Spirit, help me listen more than I speak, creating space for You to shape my heart.

Day2: Father, reveal more of Your character so I may know You not only through knowledge but through relationship.

Day 3: Jesus, help me find my greatest joy in Your presence rather than in the changing circumstances of life.

Day 4: Lord, strengthen my faith to believe that You are near, attentive, and actively working in my life.

Day 5: Father, let my prayer life become less about asking and more about enjoying fellowship with You.

Challenge: In a journal, complete a “Communion” timeline. Trace God's faithfulness through your life.

Draw a timeline from childhood to today. Mark moments where you experienced God: a prayer answered, a difficult season, a major decision, a time of healing, a lesson learned, a person God used, a season of waiting, or a moment you sensed His presence. Beside each event write:

  • God was... (faithful, patient, provider, comforter, teacher, shepherd, etc.)

  • I learned...

  • Today I thank God because...
