May 26-31, 2025
Considering that we recently celebrated Easter, let us reflect on the impact of Jesus’ sacrifice through the freedom His right standing followers receive through His death, burial, and resurrection. Having been released from the things that once held us captive like shame, fear, legalism and condemnation, spiritual freedom can be enjoyed each day.
This week's Bible reading: Colossians 2
Focus Verses: “If you have died with Christ to the elementary principles of the world, why, as if you were living in the world, do you submit yourself to decrees, such as, “Do not handle, do not taste, do not touch!” (which all refer to things destined to perish with use)—in accordance with the commandments and teachings of man? These are matters which do have the appearance of wisdom in self-made religion and humility and severe treatment of the body, but are of no value against fleshly indulgence.” (Colossians 2:20-23).
Focus Theme: Freedom from Condemnation
Day 1: Identity in Christ
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” – 2 Corinthians 5:17. What labels or past experiences do I need to release today? How does being a new creation change the way I see myself?
Day 2: Embrace Grace
“My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” – 2 Corinthians 12:9. Do I truly believe God’s grace is enough for me? Why or why not? How can I practice receiving grace today?
Day 3: Let Go of Perfectionism
“Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” – Matthew 11:28. In what ways has perfectionism affected my relationship with God? Ask God to help you lay down the burden of needing to be perfect and to help you rest in His perfection trusting that His strength is made perfect in your weakness.
Day 4: Cast Down Accusations
“For the accuser of our brothers and sisters... has been thrown down.” – Revelation 12:10. What accusations do I need to silence today? What truth does Jesus speak over me instead?
Day 5: Live From Victory, Not For Approval
“We are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” – Romans 8:37. Where in my life am I still striving for approval? What changes when I live from victory instead of for it?
