April 12-18, 2026

This month, we are focusing on some beautiful women of the Bible. We are drawn to their stories because they are flawed just like us. They have both weaknesses and strengths that shape their lives. We will see where they fall short and where they seek the Lord and the wisdom of others.

Each week, we will learn about a different woman’s character through selected Scripture passages. Over four weeks, we will get to know Rebekah, Leah, Hannah, and Abigail. If you have not studied the women of the Bible, you are in for a meaningful and enriching exploration of leadership.

Also, the Twelve Women of the Bible study is available on streaming platforms, so you can watch the videos after you read and spend time in your own prayer and reflection.

This week's focus: Leah

This week's Bible reading: Genesis 29 and 30: 1-24

Day 1: Read the chapters to learn Leah's story. Note your observations, your questions, and your initial applications. Feel her heartbreak. Connect with the characters. Reading the chapters aloud, or listening to an audio format, may help the story come alive.

Day 2: Where did you see God show up for Leah? How would you describe God's actions toward her? How have you seen God working in your life in those ways?

Day 3: What can you note about the other characters in the family: Jacob, Laban, and Rachel? How did they get enmeshed in the story and the sin? Are there any areas of your family life that need prayer? Take some time today to speak to the Lord about it.

Day 4: What are some of the unmet longings you have? Bring those to the Lord today in prayer. While you pray, you may want to kneel to exhibit a posture of surrender and invitation.

Day 5: Leah discovers that her meaning and value are not in her husband. What things have you placed your meaning and value in that are above God? Name them. Ask God to help you lay down those things that hinder you.

Challenge: Take out a piece of paper. Write a recipe that expresses your needs and invites God's provision as you would write a cake recipe. (For example, you might write something like this: Add 1 Tbs of released concerns. Add 2 Tbs of laying down control. Place three cups of God's faithfulness and 1 1/2 cups of His grace into the bowl and mix. Then, double the recipe.)
