April 26-May 2, 2026
This month, we are focusing on some beautiful women of the Bible. We are drawn to their stories because they are flawed just like us. They have both weaknesses and strengths that shape their lives. We will see where they fall short and where they seek the Lord and the wisdom of others.
Each week, we will learn about a different woman’s character through selected Scripture passages. Over four weeks, we will get to know Rebekah, Leah, Hannah, and Abigail. If you have not studied the women of the Bible, you are in for a meaningful and enriching exploration of leadership.
Also, the Twelve Women of the Bible study is available on streaming platforms, so you can watch the videos after you read and spend time in your own prayer and reflection.
This week's focus: Abigail
This week's Bible reading: 1 Samuel 25:1-39
Day 1: Read 1 Samuel 25 and note your observations, your questions, and your initial applications. Connect with the characters. Reading the chapters aloud, or listening to an audio format, may help the story come alive.
Day 2: Abigail responded one way and her husband, Nabal, in another way. Why did this cause conflict? How do you respond when there are crossed signals? Do you need time to think or do you react? Either response can be difficult for the other party.
Day 3: Abigail seemed to keep a grip on her emotions through the conflict. What helps you stay calm when things get heated? What are your triggers if things are tense? Take those needs to God and ask Him to help you when tempers flare.
Day 4: How can you be a peacemaker in a conflict situation? What are the characteristics you need to grow in? Invite God to show you.
Day 5: What is one conflict situation you have been avoiding? Call upon God in prayer. He will give you insight and a clear approach that is not in your flesh. When we lack wisdom, James 1:5 says we have to ask for it. That's a very wise step in the process.
Challenge: Think of a situation that needs a peacemaker this week. Pray about stepping in and then ask God to use you to bring peace to a conflict. You may be able to grow a skill in an area you haven't yet experienced.
