September 6-12, 2026
The theme of home surfaces throughout the Bible. Sometimes Scripture reassures us that when we build our homes on Christ, we can flourish. Other times, it reminds us that this world is not our ultimate home, to not cling too tightly to this life. The feeling of home comes from a sense of safety, comfort, and belonging, all of which come from God Himself.
As we explore this theme throughout the month, we would usually focus on one passage. But because home is such a rich and layered theme in Scripture, we will look at many passages to discover what God has to say about home.
This week's focus: Home Is a Place of Comfort and Love
This week's Bible reading: Hebrews 13:14
Day 1: Acts 2:46
Why did breaking bread together in one another’s homes matter to the early Christians? What has it felt like when you have experienced that kind of community and belonging?
Day 2: 1 Corinthians 16:14
What does it feel like to be in a home where love is present? How might “Let all that you do be done in love” shape the atmosphere of your home?
Day 3: Psalm 127:1
How have you invited the Lord to build your home? What are some ways you can recognize His presence and work within it?
Day 4: Isaiah 32:18
Do you feel at rest in your home? Why or why not? What might God be inviting you to notice about your need for peace and rest?
Day 5: Matthew 12:25
What does a divided house feel like? Are there places within your home where division, tension, or disconnection may be present?
Challenge: As you consider these themes of comfort and love in your home, take action. What needs to be added to your home to bring more rest? What needs to be removed to make room for more love and less division? Choose one small thing you can do this week to bring more love into your home. Remember, small things can make a big impact.
